In 2006 we had a number of surgeries and medical treatments on
our rescued Pyrenees. To give you an idea of where your donations were
used in 2006, here is a partial list of medical expenses for that year.
| Ethan |
Ethan needed OCD surgery on both of his front legs. Ouch!
|
| Bob |
Bob came to us in November of 2005, with a broken
leg which required pins. His pins were removed in February of 2006,
after which he required extensive rehabilitation therapy. Bob also
was diagnosed with Ehrlicia which has been treated. |
| Zeus |
Zeus was a sad tale. He was an owner surrender to a vet clinic
because his owner did not have the financial means to medically
care for him. SPIN paid for numerous medical tests which determined
Zeus was in the final stages of renal failure. Zeus was released
from this world with his owner at his side. SPIN was able to pay
his $177.00 vet bill so he wouldn’t have to continue to suffer. |
| Sara |
Sara was treated by a doggie chiropractor due to a large lump
found on her back. She continues to do well today. ($148.00) |
| Izzy |
Izzy had been hit by a car and required FHO surgery on her hip. |
| Henry |
Henry had a broken front leg which needed repair. He also required entropion
surgery on his eye. Henry’s vet bills totaled about $1500.00 and worth
every penny!
|
| Laura |
Laura, now known as Cierra (and spoiled rotten!) had a mashed foot when she came
to us. Apparently it was an old injury which had healed incorrectly, as x-rays
determined there was no way to fix it. Her family adores her, mash and all. |
| Lexy |
Lexy came to us injured, she was apparently hit by a car. She had
FHO surgery done on her hip. |
| Winnie |
Winnie came to us with one back leg so traumatized it had to be
amputated. She is doing extremely well now. |
| Boris |
Boris, now known as Forest Gump, developed Parvo soon after coming
to foster care. It was a long healing process but he is doing
very well now in his home. |
| Barkley |
Barkley had an injury requiring FHO hip surgery. He is doing great |
| Samson |
Samson came to us with cancer already spreading through his body.
Surgery was attempted for him but failed. We lost Samson to the
disease.
|
| Dave |
Dave had a broken front leg but can run with the big dogs now. |
| Margie |
Margie had a nasty case of pneumonia that hung on for quite a
while. She was fighting malnutrition and tick infestation when she
came to us and so was ripe for pneumonia germs too. She is well
and doing great with her new family. |

For Tucker, Molly, Johnny, Yuri and Babs we fought the good fight
but lost them to distemper this year. And to think a simple vaccination
could have prevented this and they could be here with us now. |
Speaking of prevention, we had 18 dogs who required heartworm treatment
just this year. Two of them were so infested with heartworms they required
a slow heartworm kill, requiring an extra treatment from the vet and
more misery for the dogs. Here are the ones who are alive today thanks
to your help:
Obviously our adoption fees don’t begin to cover the medical expenses
we encounter when we get our rescue Pyrenees out of shelters and start
them on their new lives. We would not be able to do what we do without
help from YOU, our donors, who are so generous with your time and financial
assistance. A huge, Great Pyrenees size THANK YOU to each of you!
Please remember because we are 501c3 non profit, all your donations are
tax exempt. An extra bonus for you at tax time!
